August 2026 - Creating a Master Shopping List
Do you have a favorite store you only visit once or twice a month? Maybe it’s your Sam’s Club or Costco run.
Over the years, I realized I often left the store forgetting one important item. So, back in 2013, I created a Master Shopping List—and it has saved me countless trips and headaches ever since.
How My Master List Works
• I keep a template posted on my fridge.
• As I run out of something, I jot it down immediately.
• It helps me track categories I don’t buy every trip—like paper towels, Kleenex, toilet paper, or other household supplies.
Getting the Family Involved
How do your family members let you know when something’s running low? When my kids were at home, I used a memo pad for our shopping list. If an item wasn’t added to the list, they couldn’t complain that it wasn’t purchased!
Having the list on the fridge makes it easy for everyone in the household to contribute. A quick jot is all it takes.
Customize for Any Store
You can adapt your master list to any store you love. Once it’s created, it only takes a few minutes to maintain—but it can save you hours over the long run.
Many local grocery stores already offer ready-made lists on their websites, or you can use one of these helpful apps:
Give them a try and see how much smoother your shopping trips become!
