October 2025 - Getting your vehicle ready for the winter months

I know you probably aren’t ready to hear that the winter months are now starting to approach. Have you had to clean your windshield yet? Yes, it’s that time again. Here are a few tips to help you get through the winter months safely:

Check your tires – is it time to buy new tires for the upcoming season? My husband has told me that if you stick a nickel, and you can see Lincoln’s figurehead, then it’s time to replace your tires. Worst case, just check with a tire company. Better safe than sorry.

Fill up your windshield washer fluid and switch to the winter solution.
On your coming oil change, you may want to change to 5W30 for the winter months.

Choose a nice weekend and now would be a great time to clean out your vehicle and vacuum it up so that you start the season feeling good about the car.

Find your scraper and place it in the backseat or trunk of the vehicle.
Do you want to have an extra bag of sand (or kitty litter) in case you get stuck on ice? Add a shovel as well.

If you are planning on any trips, I would throw in an extra blanket, candle, matches, snacks, water and a flashlight. You never know what road conditions you may encounter along the route.
