May 2026 - Want to Give Yourself More Time Each Day?
Let’s organize your closet.
You’ll be amazed at how much time you save when everything has a place. No more digging through piles or wondering where that favorite top disappeared to. Set aside a few hours this weekend and transform your closet into a space that works for you.
Before You Start: Create a Plan
Ask yourself:
• What do I want my closet to look like?
• Could I install a second rod for extra hanging space?
• Would a pegboard help organize scarves, hats, belts, or purses?
And most importantly—take everything out. Many of us have tucked items in there quickly when company was coming. Now’s the time to sort through it all.
10 Simple Steps to an Organized Closet
1. Donate what you don’t wear.
If you haven’t worn something in two seasons, it’s probably time to let it go.
Helpful tip: Turn your hangers backward. After wearing an item, return it to the closet facing forward. At the end of the season, you’ll clearly see what you haven’t worn.
2. Group like items together.
Keep blouses with blouses, t-shirts with t-shirts, pants with pants. Consider multi-tier hangers to maximize space.
3. Put your most-worn items front and center.
Make your daily favorites easy to reach.
4. Invest in tie and belt organizers.
Small tools can make a big difference.
5. Add a shoe rack.
It keeps pairs together and off the floor.
6. Take inventory.
Repair or replace items that are stained, torn, or worn.
7. Use hanging space wisely.
Personally, I prefer to hang most items so everything is visible in one place—no digging through drawers.
8. Refresh strategically.
Add a few updated tops or accessories each season. Keeping most of your wardrobe classic and conservative helps it last for years.
9. Store “someday” sizes separately.
If you’re keeping items that are too large or too small, place them in a clear, labeled container with the size and date. Store them outside your main closet—perhaps in a basement or spare closet—so they’re easy to find later.

You can line up your purses with these acrylic dividers that help give your purses structure so they don't fall over. You can also use these dividers for sweaters and t-shirts. They retail on Amazon for about $20 for 8 dividers.
If you have extra space on a rod, here is another purse organizer on Amazon. It also retails for about $20. You can organize your purses according to the season or special events.
