September 2022 - Organizing for a hospital stay

No one looks forward to a hospital stay but we can make it more comfortable if we are prepared.

Here is a list to help:
* Bring your own pj’s, socks, under garments and slippers. Think of things that easily slip on and off for the different tests and needles/IV’s. Also bring a robe or something to keep you warm.
* Lounge wear
* Don’t forget your phone, charger, and extension cord
* Toiletries
* Ear plugs and Wireless headphones and charger
* Cheat sheet to access to your logins and passwords
* Reading material
* Medication and medical history
* Hearing aid and extra batteries. If you are hearing impaired have a sign – as seen as below.
* Pad of paper and writing utensils to keep track of the meds they are giving you and when you should be getting your next dosage.
* Name of your Dr’s and specialists
* Maybe some blank thank you cards are also a good idea. If people send you flowers, call you or stop in for a visit, it might be nice to send them a little note because there is a lot of waiting that goes on in a hospital.

I hope you don’t have to prepare for this trip, but this list should help take a little stress away from an already stressful situation.

I have an upcoming appearance via Zoom sponsored by Troy Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2022 from 7-8pm. To register, please visit their website, https://troypl.librarycalendar.com/events/month/2022/09. Title of Event: How to Lose 20 lbs of Clutter!

There is a free shredding event taking place in Fenton on September 24th from 11-1pm at Harris Financial. Gather up your bags and boxes that need to be shredded.
