March 2024 -Spring break, here it comes!
The robins are back in town, the grass is turning green and we might just be able to pack away our parkas. Yes, spring has finally arrived! For many of us, that means packing up the family and heading out for a spring break vacation.
By paying attention to a few important details, you can spend your vacation relaxing in peace knowing you’ve taken care of all the important details. We want you to be sure you’ll have a fantastic vacation and a happy homecoming.
There are just three areas you need to cover before you fly the friendly skies or hit the open road:
- House
- Stop the mail
• Turn off your water
• Turn down your thermostat
• Make plans for your pets’ boarding
• Let a neighbor know where you will be going and give them an emergency number to be reached
• Have a neighbor take care of your garbage container
• Water plants

- Travel Plans
- • Before you leave, double check the flight, hotel and car reservation. I still print out a hardcopy because you never know when your electronics are going to fail you.
• Bring along your research on what you would like to do while you are vacationing. When we traveled to Italy, I used an accordion style plastic folder because we were visiting many different cities so I knew what we were going to see in each city so this kept our family focused.
• Bring a map and familiarize yourself with the area. Call or visit the local tourism board.
• Make sure you have all your important traveling documents such as a passport, license, membership cards that you may need. You may even want to make a copy of everything and leave a copy at home so that if any emergency arises, someone at home can give you the necessary information.
• Call your credit card company and make them aware of your upcoming trip so they don’t shut your credit card down. Now that wouldn’t be fun!
• Invest in a good travel guide. If you’d like to get an idea of what’s available, check your local library first. Many libraries have extensive travel sections with recent travel guides. Or, check Amazon to find out the best travel guide reviews before heading to your local bookstore to pick it up.

I hope your travel goes well. Just remember I know that we get excited about working on our tans, but don’t forget to pack the sunscreen, sunglasses, and a good book.
Bon Voyage!
